Soft Power Application Guidelines for DTV Visa Application

DTV Visa Financial Requirements

Please note that you will be required to pay a separate application fee for the DTV visa, which is approximately $380 USD. This fee may vary slightly depending on the embassy or consulate where you apply. This fee is not included when purchasing the Soft Power package.

  1. Proof of Funds
    • You must demonstrate a balance of 500,000 THB (approximately $15,000 USD) in your bank account or provide proof of income.
    • The 500,000 THB must be available in your account for at least 3 months before applying.
  2. Source of Funds
    • These funds can be held in either a Thai bank account or a bank in your home country.
  3. Documents to Prove Funds
    • Bank Statements: Submit bank statements from at least the last 3 months showing a balance of 500,000 THB (or the equivalent in your home currency) or more.
    • Additional Income: If you receive additional partial or passive income, we recommend supplying extra documentation to show that you have sufficient funds for your stay in Thailand. This is important to supply if possible.
  4. Financial Sponsor
    • For the Thai government’s DTV Visa for soft power applicants, if you are being financially sponsored, the sponsor must provide certain documentation to prove their ability to support you financially.
    • Here are the general steps and documents that your financial sponsor will likely need to show to the Thai government:
      1. Proof of Financial Capability:
        • Bank Statements: The sponsor may need to provide recent bank statements (typically from the last 3-6 months) showing at least 500,000 baht in their account. The bank statement should clearly show the balance and be from a recognized Thai bank.
        • Bank Book: If applicable, a bank book showing the account details and balances may also be requested.
      2. Sponsor's Income or Employment Proof:
        • Letter of Employment: If employed, the sponsor may need to provide a letter from their employer indicating their position, income, and employment status.
        • Income Tax Returns (ITR): If self-employed or receiving other forms of income, the sponsor may need to submit income tax returns (personal or business) for the previous year.
      3. Proof of Relationship or Affiliation:
        • Depending on the nature of the sponsorship (family, friend, or business-related), there may be a need to demonstrate the relationship between the applicant and the sponsor. This could include:
          • Family Documents: If the sponsor is a family member, documents such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, or other family records to prove the relationship.
          • Business Affiliation: If the sponsorship is business-related, documents like partnership contracts, a letter from the company, or other evidence of the business relationship.
      4. Sponsor's ID and Legal Documents:
        • Thai National ID Card: If the sponsor is Thai, they would need to provide a copy of their Thai National ID.
        • Passport Copy: If the sponsor is a foreigner, they would need to submit a copy of their passport.
      5. Sponsor’s Financial Commitment Letter:
        • A formal letter from the sponsor stating that they will financially support the applicant for the duration of their stay in Thailand, including the amount of money they will provide (at least 500,000 baht).
      6. Legal Declaration or Affidavit:
        • In some cases, the sponsor may need to submit a signed affidavit or legal declaration confirming their financial support commitment. This may need to be notarized or witnessed by an official authority.

Note: We do not recommend the financial sponsorship pathway for application as many applications are rejected under sponsorship of funds.

Dependents

Holders of the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) can bring their spouse and children to Thailand. Dependents must submit separate applications for their own DTVs. To qualify as a dependent, you must meet the following criteria

  • Be a legally married spouse.
  • Be an unmarried child under the age of 20.

Proof of Residence in Your Home Country

When applying for the DTV Visa from your home country, the embassy or consulate will require proof of your residence to confirm where you are making the application. The following documents are typically required:

  1. Driver’s License:
    • A valid driver’s license from your home country, which includes both your name and address. Ensure the address is current and matches your place of residence.
  2. Utility Bills (Electricity, Water, Gas, etc.):
    • Recent utility bills (e.g., electricity, water, gas, or internet bills) that show your name and current address. Bills should be issued within the last 3 months.
  3. Government-Issued Documents:
    • Documents like a national ID card or tax records can also be used to verify your name and address. Ensure the document is official, up-to-date, and legible. Include copies of both the front and back of the card.

Additional Tips

  • Up-to-date Documentation: Documents should generally be issued within the last 3 months to confirm your current residence.
  • Translations: If your documents are not in English or Thai, you may need to provide official translations to meet the embassy’s requirements.
  • Embassy/Consulate Specifics: Different embassies and consulates may have additional requirements, so always check their official website or contact them directly to confirm the proof of residence requirements.
